Dubbed the “Micro(M2),” the new format is about 1/4 the the size of the Memory Stick Pro Duo (boy does the marketing department need to work on its naming schemes!).
The new format Sony developed with SanDisk will have a theoretical maximum of 32GB, though no word on whether we’ll ever see one with such capacity (but it would be pretty cool, wouldn’t it—imagine a non-crippled ROKR with 32GBs!).
Licensing for use of the new memory format began yesterday.
Here are some of the technical specifications:
- Dimensions: 15 × 12.5 × 1.2 mm
- Volume: 225 mm3
