FCC Exhibits: Motorola ROKR E2 with iTunes Support?

A user manual submitted with the Motorola ROKR E2 for FCC approval hints at iTunes support.

Engadget Mobile today highlighted some of the newly FCC approved phones. One linked to was the Motorola ROKR E2.

The interesting part is the user manual submitted to the FCC. In it, if you search for the word “iTunes” you will find it located only once, on page 32. You can see the screen capture below:

Unfortunately, iTunes is not listed under the “audio player” section of the manual, or any other details except the ability to use iTunes when the phone’s radio is turned off on an airplane.

When using the ROKR E2 at CES this year, it didn’t have the iTunes software on it. However, the Motorola expert showing the phone didn’t say that there was any reason the phone couldn’t come with iTunes on it.

Besides iTunes, the ROKR E2 says that it will support synchronization with Microsoft’s ActiveSync as well as SyncML—so it should be good to go with iSync, perhaps with the need of a home-made plugin.

Hopefully we’ll know more soon now that it’s received FCC approval.
