Mac DevCenter's missing post on Apple Phone

Okay, maybe I'm doing something wrong here, but I've got a post in my RSS reader from the Mac DevCenter that I can't find on their blog, having to do with some phone related settings in the new iTunes.

UPDATE: If there's anyone who's still running iTunes 6 on the Mac, who could run the command below and post it, I think it would prove to be a useful comparison, to see where things changed.

I’m not sure what’s going on here, but here’s a copy of the post as it reads in my RSS reader. The link goes here, but I can’t get that page to load on Mac DevCenter’s website, nor can I find it listed in any of their blog posts. The post’s title is “iPhone update”, and according to my RSS reader, it was posted Sept. 13 @ 8:47PM by Erica Sadun. Below is a copy/paste of a command line (terminal) readout that was listed in the post:

% cd /Applications/iTunes.app/Contents/MacOS
% strings * | grep -i phone
phone-update
Phone
Motorola Phone
upgradePhone
newPhoneUser
UpgradePhone
phone-upgrade
phone
work phone
home phone
com_apple_driver_iTunesPhoneDriverNub
iTunesPhoneUserClientDevice
plist/dict/PhoneUpdateVersions:dict/key/
plist/dict/PhoneUpdateVersions:dict/VersionsIndex:dict/Manufacturer:string/
plist/dict/PhoneUpdateVersions:dict/VersionsIndex:dict/Model:string/
plist/dict/PhoneUpdateVersions:dict/VersionsIndex:dict/PlatformID:integer/
plist/dict/PhoneUpdateVersions:dict/VersionsIndex:dict/DRMLibraryVersion:string/
plist/dict/PhoneUpdateVersions:dict/VersionsIndex:dict/DownloadURL:string/
plist/dict/PhoneUpdateVersions:dict/VersionsIndex:dict/DownloadPrompt:string/
plist/dict/PhoneUpdateVersions:dict/VersionsIndex:dict/
PhoneSettingsView
Phone Prefs
homeTelephoneNumber
mobileTelephoneNumber
pagerTelephoneNumber
%

I tried the doing the same grep string search in Terminal and found the same.

Again, maybe there’s a technical difficulty with the Mac DevCenter’s website and the post’s removal is an innocent mistake, but it’s also possible that they were asked to take it down? I’ve emailed the site to ask if I was missing something.

From the looks of it, it appears, at a minimum, that iTunes may be taking on a larger role in synchronizing information to a mobile phone device—like home / mobile / and pager telephone numbers. Motorola is the only manufacturer listed, which would make sense as they’re the only mobile manufacturer to sell an iTunes compatible phone.

I’m not sure what this tells us, if anything, but I thought it was interesting.
