This site is a waste of time at best. The information is old and inaccurate and questions are not answered.

The idea of the site has huge value to those of us trying to make a buy decision, but it needs an overhaul to get the data up to date.

And if you really want to be of service to us Mac users, find a way to include the specifics of the Mac n Cell relationship: what is supported and what actually gets sync’ed, bluetooth or not, ease of use, etc. There are many facets to interoperability, and simply including a model number in a list is very misleading and useless.

wow, thanks for that comment.

you’re right, there is a lot of information on this sync-apps page that is out of date, and that’s my fault. i’m just a regular guy—i don’t have access to all phones and all information, so i’ve provided what i can thru my searches. in the next version of the site, i’m considering making this page a wiki so users can help build a record from their experience. i’m not the biggest fan of wikis, but i think it’d be more useful to you the reader.

i don’t want to make excuses to you, so i won’t. i will tell you that i’ve been working some time (seems like forever) on a new version of the site which should allow me to update it quicker and easier, and i hope to have that process completed very soon. what’s taking me so long is moving the posts from plone to drupal has had to be done, for the most part, manually. comments from the current site will be included directly into the posts, instead of being their own “object,” and recoding that is slow going. clearly i’ve let you down, and i’m sorry about that.

i should also note, that while the info on this specific page has languished somewhat, i’ve been answering tons of emails on questions, some of which i’ve only occasionally posted here. i’d like to post many more/all of them, but again, it’s been quite a chore to post with the current system and i’m hoping that will be remedied soon.

i run this site completely: not just posting to the blog, but creating images, writing the code, running the server software and hardware. it’s a hobby that i’ve found others have found useful, and hopefully i’ve helped a few people along the way—comments and emails suggest that. i’m working on getting the site “up-to-snuff,” and while i’m not asking for your pity, i will ask for your patience. hopefully the wait will be worth it.

I personally found this site to be invaluable when shopping for a Mac-friendly cell phone. Granted, my next (eventual) phone's gonna be an iPhone, so I won't be making the same use of the information provided, but I still refer a lot of people to this site when they have cell-phone-on-Mac questions. I'd love to contribute to an inclusive up-to-date wiki, whenever that project goes down.
